I was given an LG Chocolate as a gift, how can I activate it?

My aunt works where they recylce cell phones, she founded a brand new LG Chocolate in the recycle bin and gave it to me, how do I activate it?

Take it to a phone service such as Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, etc. Set up a wireless plan. Then they'll activate your phone for you.
